Peacocks, poop-bags, puddles, poodles, cuddles and Labradoodles—this rainy season announces the first-ever Barks & Brews event this coming Sunday, March 10, from 11 AM until 4 PM, presented by Fera Pets at the Los Angeles Arboretum.
Enjoy a day in the garden with your pooch, including food trucks and beer for purchase from Mt. Lowe Brewing Company. There is a $10 per dog fee for all canine attendees, including dogs belonging to members. Non-members must also purchase admission for all human guests in addition to the dog fee. The dog fees benefit Pasadena Humane and the LA Arboretum Foundation.
A few friendly reminders about this event:
• BRING YOUR POOP BAGS, and please use them.
• Dogs must be on a leash at all times.
• You are accountable for your dog’s behavior!
• Leashes must be six feet or shorter. Retractable leashes are not allowed.
• Dogs must stay on paved paths and grassy lawns.
• Dogs must remain at least ten feet away from peacocks!
• Dogs must be prevented from disturbing plantings.
• Read the full Canine Code of Conduct.
Got all that? OK, then register here.
Not crazy about corned beef and cabbage, green beer or the agony bags?
Then, hie ye over to the Moreno Valley Animal Shelter for a special price on pet adoptions honoring St. Patrick’s Day!
It’s on right now! Through March 16 and then again March 19 – 23, adoption fees at this shelter are only $50 per dog and $25 per cat. The reduced adoption fee includes spaying or neutering surgery if needed, vaccines, and microchipping. Pets adopted that need spaying or neutering surgery will be able to go home on the afternoon of the day their surgery is scheduled. Also note that these lower prices are ALWAYS available to people age 60 and older, as well as to veterans!
Hey, adoption fees here are usually $83 per puppy/dog, plus a spay or neuter fee, and $47 per cat/kitten, plus a spay and neuter fee, so this is indeed a good deal!
Event hours: 10:00 am to 5:00 pm.
This shelter does not conduct much in the way of social media, so the euthanasia rate is high here. Just sayin’. There are dogs and cats of every description in need of fosters and adopters, including:
A532497 – No Name Cat
“Who added the espresso shot to my catnip?”
A532316 – No Name Puppy
A532316 is a female German Shepherd puppy, two months old. That’s all we know.
Or how about…
These DSH kittens are one month old.
• Female: #A532082
• Males: #A532081, #A532086, #A532084, #A532085, #A532078
I know. We count more than six kittens, too. Maybe they ran out of numbers? Just go over there and get them all, please!

Meet STEVIE WONDER
Thank you, Darlene, for bringing this beauty to our attention!
Here’s what our friends at lifelineforpets.org have to say about this guy:
“How can you resist this face? Stevie is just the sweetest! He is mellow, loves to be petted, and would make a very loving companion. He might be a little shy until he gets to know you, but that won’t take long at all if you offer him some Temptations treats. He had an eye issue at first, but he’s fine now. He is FIV+ but needs no meds and is up to date on his vaccines. He’s chipped and neutered—totally ready to go! He would get along fine with another nice cat, especially if that cat is also FIV+, but he would also be fine watching catTV or sitting in a window perch watching the birds and squirrels. Stevie needs a chance to experience a home and, comfort, and love! He’ll be ever so grateful! See more pictures and watch his videos at https://www.lifelineforpets.org/stevie.html. See how loving he is! Stevie’s been waiting for a home for over two years—please don’t let him wait any longer!”
• Male feline DSH
• Age: 7 years old
• Coloring: gray and black tabby with “got milk?” mustache
• FIV+
• Neutered, chipped
• Sociable and mellow

And from Pasadena Humane…
Meet Frances #A511420
Frances is a female hamster who has been behind bars since October of 2023. She’s done her time, and now she deserves a pardon—and a fresh toilet paper roll. An excellent office associate if you have documents in need of shredding.
Meet LILY #A512894
This spayed female white bunny just arrived at Pasadena Humane. Rabbits require special education and care as pets. On the downside, they chew. Everything. Because they have to; otherwise, their teeth will literally grow too long for them to eat! So be prepared to supply Lily with safe chewing sticks, etc. On the plus side, rabbits can be litterbox-trained, just like a cat.
Here’s White Dove #A513471
Meet Neptune #A513418
Cuteness overload. Resistance is futile.
• Female feline DSH
• Brown tabby with a white blaze and paws, yellow eyes
• Age: 1 year, one month
• Size: Medium
These and many other potential pets are waiting at Pasadena Humane. For information on the adoption process and to schedule your appointment, click here.
