Pasadena Fire Chief Chad Augustin has directed the activation of Red Flag Parking Restrictions within the City of Pasadena. This alert is effective from 4:00 a.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 6, through 6:00 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 7. The alert can be extended based on weather conditions.

A Red Flag Warning means that critical fire weather conditions are expected. This, in combination with dry fuels, could create extreme fire danger and/or fire behavior. Please use caution with potential fire sources.

In order to allow for improved fire department access and resident evacuation, parking is restricted on posted narrow and/or winding roads within Pasadena’s urban-wildland interface areas. Extra fire patrols have been added to our Foothill areas. Additional information, including the complete list of streets with restricted parking, is available at cityofpasadena.net/fire/red-flag-parking-restrictions.

Now’s the time to review your evacuation plans and make sure emergency kits are stocked with everything you need should you have to evacuate. See Los Angeles County Fire Department’s Ready, Set, Go Guide for preparation tips: http://fire.lacounty.gov/wp-content/uploads/2020/05/Ready-set-go_051420.pdf?v=1600184787422

If you haven’t already, please register for the Pasadena Local Emergency Alert System (PLEAS) to receive voice, email and/or text emergency notifications. PLEAS messages are only sent in the event of imminent danger where action, such as evacuation, is required. https://www.cityofpasadena.net/fire/pleas/

Once you’ve registered with PLEAS, we also recommend you register with the county’s Alert LA County mass notification system.

Also, register at Nixle.com to receive public safety alerts by text message and/or email. You can also text your ZIP code to 888777 to opt in.

As a reminder, be sure to secure any outdoor decorations, gates/fences, trash cans, patio furniture, and anything else that can serve as a projectile.
