In May 2024, Local News Pasadena reported that Pasadena Police solicited bids for a mobile surveillance tower.

The article was titled “Welcome to Crown City Prison.”

The Police Chief claimed the tower would be used during major events and in shopping districts to combat retail crime.

Members of the community saw the potential acquisition differently.

On August 1st, Pasadena Police spent over an hour justifying the purchase of the tower to the Community Police Oversight Commission.

Comments from citizens and commissioners reflected points raised in Local News Pasadena’s coverage.

This is unedited video from the meeting.
