Summer is fast approaching, and there’s nothing like the love of a pet to make those lovely, long summer days and balmy nights even sweeter and more fun. This coming Saturday, May 25th, it’s Free Adoption Day at Pasadena Humane is a great opportunity to open your heart and your home to a new friend.
Adoption fees are waived from 10:00 a.m until 2:00 p.m on May 25th. Cats, dogs and all of critterdom – including a four-week-old neonate female hamster, unnamed, #A514251, a gorgeous female red-eared slider turtle named Cilantro #A514645, several bunnies including mini-lop Roger, #A514446, pigeons and guinea pigs – are eligible.

Meet Miss Celie
Thanks to our good friend Darlene Papa for this great post about Celie! And many thanks to Darlene and www.lifelineforpets.com for agreeing to write ANIMAL HOUSE for a few weeks this summer.
Darlene writes: “In mid-December, we pulled this stunning calico off the Southeast Area Animal Control Authority (SEAACA) kill list, where she landed after being struck by a car. The incident left her with extensive injuries. To say that this young lady was in a world of hurt would have been an understatement. After three weeks in the hospital and an additional four weeks of crate rest, this resilient baby is very nearly as good as new. She does have an ever-so-slightly odd gait, but that doesn’t keep her from running and playing and climbing onto your lap. It does, however, preclude her from jumping onto your kitchen counters, which for many, may be a plus.
Despite all the trauma she has endured, she wants nothing more than to lie on her back and soak up all the belly rubs and chin scratches we can deliver. Like her namesake from ‘The Color Purple,’ she is tough as nails and resilient as hell but has a heart of gold that only wants to love. Celie is vaccinated, microchipped, FIV/FeLV negative, spayed and would prefer to be an only cat. Her foster mom says, ‘She actually IS okay with other cats with a proper introduction. but she would also be happy to be an only cat. Really loving and desperate for belly rubs. Able to jump on a bed no problem.’”
Does this sound like the right cat for you? If so, please fill out an application and come meet her today, https://www.lifelineforpets.org/celie.html.
